Psychometric Testing
There are two types of psychometric testing: ability tests and personality tests. The former are usually used for selection purposes and the latter for developmental purposes (although some may be used for recruitment as well). I use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which is a personality inventory used for developmental purposes and helps users gain a better understanding of themselves and others, as well as explore opportunities for growth and development.
This inventory was first developed by Katharine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers over 70 years ago and is based on the work of Carl Jung, one of the founding fathers of modern psychology. Since then, there has been extensive research into the MBTI questionnaire – 20 years before it was published and over 50 years since, providing strong support for its reliability and validity. It is used by millions of people worldwide, including more than 88% of Fortune 500 companies in 115 countries.
As an MBTI Step I Practitioner, I am qualified to administer and provide feedback on the following reports that are derived from this personality inventory and I often use them as a basis to work on, during individual or group coaching sessions:
-
